Prod. 2001 - Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs (II)

06070809101112
Seq. 3-A "Snow White & Huntsman - S.W. into Woods"
- First, Grim Natwick animated Snow White, Ham Luske the Huntsman, and the little bird by Eric Larson. Then Jack Campbell and Tony Rivera take Snow White into the woods...

NB: The numbers in the Director area indicate the number of the sequence if they were in numerical order instead of 3-A, 3-B etc.

[Addition: please note the comments! It is well-known that things were cut from the film even after the December 23rd, 1937 premiere, and the draft has info for the so-called "deleted scenes" like the dwarfs' bedroom fight and the soup sequence. I do not have the film here where I am, so I will rely on your comments to tell me where the draft differs from the actual film!]

You'll notice a few differences between the draft and the finished film. A new scene of the bird seems to have been added in place of Scene 2 of the Huntsman, whose actions seem delayed in comparison with the way they are in the draft (for example, scene 5 "MCU Huntsman with knife drawn" seems to have been spliced in the middle of scene 8). And the Huntsman saying "She's mad - jealous of you - she'll stop at nothing!" is listed in the draft as a rear view animated by Grim (Scene 12), but in the film it's a 3/4 front view (or whatever you would call it), without Snow White in shot, and, I'd imagine, animated by Ham like the rest of the Huntsman's footage in this sequence. The shot where he says "Run away! Hide!" isn't on the draft either.

I'm curious as to what Rivera animated. He would seem to be an effects animator, but he's the only one credited on scene 23, featuring extensive Snow White acting footage -- maybe an ommission on the draft?

Thanks, John V.! I added a note as to what is on the draft that isn't in the film as we know it...

Hans, thanks for posting these drafts.

As far as I know, Tony Rivera was an assistan animator on Snow White. I think that he just cleaned up Campbell's rough drawings, and was credited in the drafts for whatever reason.

P.S.: sorry for my bad english.
