Prod.2001-Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs (XV)

747576
Seq. 8-C "Going to Bed"
- Snow White by Ham Luske and Grim Natwick, dwarfs by Marvin Woodward, Riley [Thomson], Les Clark, Fred Spencer and Dick Lundy, effects (clock) by Cy Young.

Basically we have character dwarfs by Les Clark, slapstick dwarfs by Fred Spencer and sleeping dwarfs by Marv Woodward...

Note that we start with scene 6A, and there are, again, many inserted numbers, where a situation is divided into several scenes. This seems most often to entail cutting to a close up and back, which could have been instrumental in heightening our nearness--and thus our interest--in the characters.

I cannot come up with an explanation as to why scenes 22 and 23 have extra footage (1-08 and 3-01 respectively) added "for real out." What would that mean? Should it be "reel" and not "real"? Why the odd length? I mean, 1-08 is one second, that's a good length in any circumstance, but 3-01? Any takers?

Lundy seems to be used on Grumpy a lot. I wonder if this has anything to do with his work on Donald? I mean, I can't imagine Grumpy jumping up and down with one arm out and one moving back and forth, but maybe they reckoned the emotions were close enough to merit the same kind of "actor"?

I wonder if the extra footage of 1'08 is for a dissolve, or fade out and in,to be added later at the lab?

spokeshave - possible, is there a dissolve in the scenes? As I said, I do not have the film handy!

There isn't a dissolve in scene 22 but there is a held shot of Dopey in that scene (for about the right length I think) before it cuts to the next scene.

The next scene does have a camera glide (but that's already mentioned) and maybe there was an added part (Snow White does go back to pray) but I can't think of what this extra footage is or what the 3-01 refers to.

John V.: That's an interesting theory, and probably a good reason for Lundy's casting. Maybe the transcripts of the meetings for Snow White have the answer.

Maybe the 3-01 does refer to the screen glide and means "plus 3-01 with no animation"? The held shot of Dopey doesn't require any animation either, so the "1-08" note could mean the same thing.
