Directed by Woolie Reitherman, assistant director Jeffrey Patch, layout Don Griffith, secretary Lorraine [Thilman? Davis?].
This FINAL draft dated 3/30/77.

Animation: Penny by Glen Keane, Ollie Johnston and John Pomeroy, Medusa by Milt Kahl, Mice by Cliff Nordberg and Chuck Harvey with a scene by Dick Sebast, Bird by Bob McCrea. A Snoops scene has Stan Green assigned to it. Effects by Jack Buckley.

"What makes you think anyone would want a homely little girl like you?" A classic sequence, especially noted for Milt's amazing acting scenes with Medusa (around scene 307). The emotional high point of the picture, often used in compilations and promotional material, this is the quintessential Rescuers sequence.

(I MAY not be able to post again until early next week. Stay tuned!)

Rest assured, there is plenty of material left for us to chew on while you're working away.

I knew Oliie would be in this sequence, so it's not surprising it's Reitherman. I thought the first part with Medusa would be a stand alone sequence from the deck scenes. Good to finally see Glen Keane, I was wondering where he was.

Some particularly dark and terrible things are said in the first half of this sequence. Shot 309 sends chills up my spine. Medusa's homely remark set off some pretty bizzare and funny comments on YouTube.

Ah yes, you can tell this is a Woolie sequence with some Bambi reuses - it would be interesting if the draft mentioned any animators on that Bambi scenes that ended being reused.

We haven't seen much of Glen Keane haven't we?

Anyone noticed = 007? James Bond.

Just noticed that... :) even though it doesn't have anything to do with the topic.

Ah. The quintessential Rescuers Sequence.
The Medusa in her boudoir is the film's undoubted high-light.
I am lucky enough to own the Key Master set-up of Scene 300, Medusa and her reflection with original background...just great!

I've noticed a bit of an anomaly from this final draft to the final cut.
Scene 61 would appear to be out and 61.1 is split into 2 seperate scenes. It also has added Snoops dialogue "What's up Medusa? What's going on?" but his lack of lip-synch is not noticed as he's running through the shots.
There is also VO dialogue (Medusa) that I'm assuming was added later (as it involves no lip synch), but there is un-noted dialogue for Penny in 62 that is fully lip-synched "I bet those two are up to something".
