Prod. 2519 - The Rescuers (XXI)  - Seq. 008 - Evinrude and Bats

174175176177178179
Directed by John Lounsbery and Art Stevens, assistant director Rick Rich, layout by Joe Hale and Silvia Roemer.
This FINAL draft of 3/18/77.

Animation by director Art Stevens and Cliff Nordberg (Bernard, Evinrude and bats), Chuck Williams (a long shot of Evinrude) and Ron Clements (swamp critters).

The part of the sequence animated by Ron Clements is numbered by itself, and could be considered a separate sequence. We haven't heard from Chuck Williams before, have we?

I thought that the critters were by Frank Thomas but it seems Ron Clements does the job!

Did Clements work under Frank in the film or something?

Chuck Williams was the big boss producer of Disney animation before the shut down.

He's credited as a 'Key assistent animator' on the film, with Dale Oliver, Stan Green, and Walt Stanchfield, who I suspect will also show up later.

Oh yes, Frank invited Ron to join him on his assignments, and they were quite close knit on The Rescuers. He talks about it liberally in an interview for the 'Animation podcast'.
